At Stanley Street Independent Methodist Church, we believe in a "come as you are" welcome that reflects our heart for the Seaham community. For many years, our church has been a bustling hub of outreach, serving as a bridge for our neighbours to find a spiritual home.

Today we are connecting through modern digital spaces like Facebook and our website, but our greatest joy remains the personal invitation. God has been incredibly encouraging recently we are seeing our best attendances in decades at special events and are blessed to welcome new faces into our weekly church family. About the Independent Methodist Connexion​

Stanley Street is proud to be part of the Independent Methodist Connexion, a group of churches primarily situated in the North of England, with further congregations in the Midlands, Bristol, and the Isle of Man.

While our denomination is not large, this smaller scale fosters a unique character and our structure is built on the following principles:

​

• Self-Governing Churches: Each individual church manages its own affairs.

• Local Circuits: Churches are grouped into circuits to provide mutual support and practical help to one another.

• The Connexion: This acts as our collective focal point, providing resources, motivation, and encouragement through various departments and officers.

• Democratic Decisions: Major denominational decisions are made annually by representatives from all churches during our Annual Meeting.
